How to increase your page rank

This is a common question among webmasters, especially after the Penguin Update (For more info on the update click here) on the 24 of April. until then it was pretty easy to get a high page rank; a well organized link building  strategy was enough. After the latest page rank update though, a few days after the Penguin update was released, a lot of major popular websites saw their PR decrease and many new ones gained a pretty high one.

Is this an algorithm bug, or just a new SEO generation? Although many webmasters complain about these unfair (for most) changes, Matt Cutts haven’t made any announcements yet unfortunately in my opinion are here to stay.

Google’s search quality changes you can use to rank higher

A few weeks before Penguin update, Google announced 50 new search quality changes. Some of them are really interesting, since they can be used to help us rank higher in SERPs.

Let’s see the most important of them:

  1. Newsgroup scoring: Google now scores newsgroups better and thus ranks them higher in SERPs for a particular query. Because of that, newsgroups have become a better website promotion technique. Try to participate more actively on them or create a few of your own, discuss on them about your niche and promote your site and services. Continue reading

What are SERPs?

This is a question that I get a lot lately, so I decided that instead of just giving its definition, to get a bit deeper.

Well, first things first…

SERPs are the search engine results pages , the listing of web pages returned by a search engine in response to a keyword query.

In other words SERPs are a site’s rankings for a particular keyword; a site’s positioning.

PR Update

This is a quick post to let you know that Google PageRank update is confirmed and had been done earlier today.

Google made this update along with the its Penguin update and many sites got hit severally.
