Chris asked me yesterday… and it was then that I understood that although I have written so many articles about link building, I haven’t really explained what a backlink is and why it is important.
I am really sorry about that… it seems that for a moment I forgot that this is a blog mainly for newbies…

What is a backlink?
Backlinks, also known as incoming links, inbound links, inlinks, and inward links, are incoming links to a website or web page. In basic link terminology, a backlink is any link received by a web node (web page, directory, website, or top level domain) from another web node.
