Yes, I mean it… you should never submit your site to any search engine again.
I know it seems weird, since most SEO experts propose to submit it every few months.
This is totally wrong and I am sure you will agree with me as soon as you understand how search engines work.
Well, every search engine has a spider that crawl the web for new sites.
Here is how spiders work
- They visit a site and search for outbound links
- They follow all those links (most of then follow only those links that are do-follow) to discover new sites
- They do the same process for every site they visit
- They index every new site they find
So, the time that your site has its first inbound link it will be indexed by search engines
So, what’s the point to submit it in the first place?
There are hundreds or maybe thousand search engines out there, so you will spend all of your time make submissions.
Of course, there are many auto-submitters which claim they submit a site to 700+ search engines with one click, but are they worth anything?
Google, Yahoo and Altavista have almost to 90% of the market, so submitting to all the other engines will hardly bring you any traffic.
So, let’s say that you submit your site only to Google, Yahoo and Altavista which is easy and it will take only a few minutes.
If it is not your first time here, I am sure you already know the importance of inbound links and link building. We have discussed it many times.
Without quality quality inbound links a site can never get a high PageRank nor a high search results ranking.
This means simply that if your site has thousands of quality inbound links, it will probably be on the #1 page of Google. If it has none it will be on the page number 6540 (!) which means that nobody will be able to find it -even if you have submit it…
99% of those searching for something are looking up to page 5 of the results…
Did you get my point?
Get indexed it’s not the important thing. Spiders will find and indexed your site, that’s for sure.
The important thing is to be able to rank high in SERPs (search engine result pages), so to get organic traffic.
More Qualith backlinks ==> Higher Rankings ==> Rank Higher in SERPs
So, instead of spending time to submit your site to search engines, I propose to spend it in creating relevant quality backlinks.
