Blog Commenting and Link Building

Hello everyone,

long time no see… sorry for that, I was abroad for a while.

Well, now I am back… and a bit pissed of with many spammers who constantly spam my blog; and this is the reason I am writing this post today.

I was out for around a week and when I came back I found 803 comments needed moderation, all of them (except 3) were spams!!!

Come on people, link building is not spamming.

Spamming blogs and abusing trackbacks are two popular blackhat SEO techniques that will result -soon or later- to get banned from search engines.

Is that what you want?

I don’t think so.

So, why do you spend your time spamming blogs instead of actually try to build your online reputation?

probably because you think it will help you rank higher in search engines.

OK then. Let me explain how google and link building work.

How Google Works

Google does not rank a website, it ranks a page. Each page in every website has its own rank based on two elements:

  1. Content
  2. Backlinks

“Content is the king”, they say, and for a page to rank high, it should have unique and regularly updated content.

Backlinks are very important factor too, but they have to be relevant and from a content rich website or blog. Google doesn’t like link farms nor irrelevant backlinks and it will ban you from its results (SERPS) if your site is spammy.

I think you are starting to understand my point.

Blog Commenting as a Link Building Strategy

There are many “SEO experts” who propose blog commenting as the best link building strategy.

Do they mean you should find irrelevant blogs and leave comments like the one below?

Of course not.

Such a comment is a spam and the administrator will delete it in no time.

Of course not.

Why?

Because this is not a comment. It is a backlink creation and the administrator is not stupid. She will understand this and flag it as a spam.

So, what blog commenting is all about?

Here is how it works:

  1. You find a relevant blog with real content on it. This means that if your blog is about “weight loss” you should find a blog which is about “weight loss” too. Blogs about “digital cameras” will not work.
  2. You find a blog post within that blog that you like.
  3. YOU READ THIS POST
  4. If you have something to add to the topic, you leave a comment. Comments like “great post :) ” normally get deleted.
  5. If you finally leave a comment, don’t post a link on it. Post your URL in the appropriate blx and it will appear behind your name.
  6. That’s it. Your link is live!!
Quick Tip:

Do not create more than 20 backlinks per day. Build your links naturally to be SEO friendly.
